Welcome! My name is Dave Calhoun, the Owner & Rod Builder of NW FLY. Getting the "fishing bug" early from my Dad, I knew at 6yrs old I wanted to be a fisherman and/or Luke Skywalker. The Luke Skywalker thing didn't work out, so here I am. Originally I started building rods about 20 years ago in Kalama, WA. Part time building rods, while working in Law Enforcement... 8 years later I turned my passion into my full time gig. I never looked back! Wanting to expand & move to Idaho, Red and I decided to just do it! I sold my property in 2023, moved to the little town of Blanchard, Idaho and started building my NW FLY Rod Shop. Having a Made in The USA Rod shop right here in North Idaho!
